Our Beginning

Since its inception in 2006, STEAMWORKS’ mission has been to prepare those entering the skilled trades in steam systems and boiler operations with actionable knowledge.

Many years later, STEAMWORKS’ continues to infuse an in-depth steam systems and operator training with real-world applications from boots on the ground instructors.

Passing the Torch

Jon Kapel, our passionate leader, fellow licensed boiler operator, and steam systems educator, purchased STEAMWORKS from its owner, Dean Wilson, in 2020. Jon accepted the steam training torch Dean so humbly carried for many years. As a Steamworks student himself, Jon greatly admires the culture and virtues that Dean Wilson worked so hard to create at STEAMWORKS. The wisdom and lessons imparted gave Jon and his team a solid foundation to build upon.

Our Future

We seek to build the future of STEAMWORKS using forward-thinking tools by which students acquire knowledge they can act upon to transform their work and their employers’ steam systems operations. We believe a student who cannot act upon knowledge following training has not learned. To yield proficient students requires a structured, interactive, and in-depth curriculum and a commitment to imbue every student in the classroom with learning. STEAMWORKS is committed to leadership with integrity, generosity, and respect. It is a daunting and thrilling responsibility to be an INDUSTRY LEADER. We do not take this for granted. Our instructors extend themselves in leadership well beyond the classroom. When training with STEAMWORKS you become part of the community we’re building across the USA and beyond.
